Design Cycle: Grade 9

The design cycle is the steps you need to do to create something in technology. The first step is the investigation. In the investigation you investigate, and find out  general information about the project you're about to begin. the next step is the design. This is where you put all your ideas on paper. It's preferred to have more than one idea (design) so that if one doesn't work you have other ideas which have a bigger chance of succeeding. The step after is the plan. The plan is a prediction of the steps you might do during the creating process. After the plan, you create the project. The last part is the evaluate. After you finished creating the project you evaluate on your work and how well you worked on the project. During this process you should have a process journal, to reflect on how you did the project.

Community and Service Reflection

What??
For community and service I have to do two projects this year. I already did one project during the Eid/Christmas holiday and I signed up for Hamad Hospital in March. The project I did was in Al-Dana Kindergarten where I had to go and help teachers like a teacher asistant. I went with my friend that was with me in the same kindergarten.
So What??
This was a significant experiance and I'd like to go visit the children again because I really enjoyed the time a spent with them. I helped them learn the english alphabete and counting english from 1-10. I chose this project because I learned a lot and saw a lot of changes since I was a student there.
Now What??
I imporved by being a better MYP student by doing different types of community and service each year, but I enjoyed this project most. I enjoyed it because it was different than the ones I did before and it was fun teaching the children. It had demonstrated to me that children can be really fun to be around and teaching them made me feel like I was the boss. The only thing I couldn't do was when the teacher leaves I can't control them so I had to call the principle to come. I kept saying to the children to be quiet but they never listened, but when the principle just walked inside the room evryone was quiet. Some day I would like to do that.

English Reflection

What??
This term's biggest project is called The Literature Circle. We had to choose two books and read them. On the first book we had to find eight quotes we liked. I read the book Buddy. I enjoyed it and found a lot of quotes. We had to have two book disscusions with the people who had the same book. We had to compare the situations that happened in the book to teenagers these days. This reflection is about the quote project. We were expected to write three paragraphs about a passage from the book.
So What??
i enjoyed reading the book and finding the quotes. i was proud of the end result of the project because of the effort i put in it and the final grade. i chose this artifact for my portfolio because i worked really hard on it.
Now What??
doing this project has improved me as a myp learner and being a better writer.i have more confidence in writing about quotes now. i learned that books can relate to the way some people live today and how it changed by charecter development.

Review of Neha's digital portfolio

Neha's digital portfolio has all the links. All her links work and they go to the right page. She also has her blog on the side of the page were all the other navigation buttons are. Her video was made and finished but she didn't upload it yet. Neha's portfolio needs to be more catchy by changing the background color or by adding more pictures. The webpage has reflections but not all reflections have artifacts and not all artifacts have reflections. Her humanities power point is in the humanities page but she's missing a reflection, same problem in her spanish page. Her english page has a complete refletion but she's missing an artifact. She started most of her pages not not quite completed them, like the art page. She started the reflection but she didn't finish it.

Art Reflection

What??
In art this year we did three projects; 3D letters, logos and metamorphosis. I didn't have time to finish the metamorphosis project, but I finished the two other projects. I really enjoyed the 3D letters project because I had fun changing the letters to other shapes. For example changing the "S" to a snake shape. I had to draw the letters at different angles so I could shade it at different tones of color.

So What??
I'm proud of this project because of the effort I put in it. I've developed as an artist and learner in this project by knowing that you can always change things in art and be more creative to make it look better. I also chose this project because of the end result.

Now What??
I've developed as an artist and learnerin this project by knowing that you can always change things in art and be more creative to make it look better. i'm going to use this knowlage with all my other art projects and even for other subjects.

Reflection on Humanities Powerpoint

what??

This unit we were learning about South West Asia. The final project was that each student had to pick a country out of a box. I got Saudi Arabia. It wasn't very hard to get the information because it was quite similar to Qatar for example the clothes and traditions are similar. We had about one weeks to work on it in class, but by the end of the week the teacher changed the date and it became after the holidays. I finished my project in class, so I didn't have to work on it during the holiday.

So what??

I worked really hard on this project.This project is one of the biggest projects for this term. When I was almost done with the project, I don't know what happened but the project got deleted so I had to start it again. The project was due the next day and I had to do it all over again. I stayed up late and worked so hard on it. The next day the teacher changed the date it was due. I finished the project weeks before it was due whih was good because I didn't have to worry about it during the holiday. It's significant because I worked so hard on it.

Now what??

In this project I learned a lot. I learned that if I finished my work before it was due I get to have more time to go over it and improve it. I became more confident in my work and I think I can do better now. If I did this project again I might change few things like the background. I might also make all my points into paragraphs.
